Antique Allis Chalmers Tractor: AC D15 Series II

[Allis Chalmers D15 Parts]     [Return to the Shed]

  • I m nearing complete restorataion on a 1964, D-15 Series 11 Allis Chalmers. It was all there but in rough shape after recently retrieving it from my father-in-law. Ive rebuild everything on it and have returned it to its original condition in every respect. The project has been great fun even though I have invested more money than its probably worth. I grew up working with old ACs in Missouri as a kid so this project was a step back in time. Once done, the tractor should really be nice and show very well.

His 1966 D-15 Series II was my faveriote and still is to this day, along with his 1964 D-10 Series I. Both are still plowing the fields and still getting up hay today. I am the second owner. My grandpa gave me these tractors to keep the spirt alive. So I could past them on to my children.

  • Back in 1961 or 1962 I tried out a new D-14 with 3-14s and it did quite well. So well that in alfalfa sod it just picked the front end off the ground and kept going having to be steered with the brakes. That was in some pretty heavy ground. I could never get together on a price with that dealer, but in 1963 I bought a new D-15 ser II and what a tractor,we wore it out by working it to do work should have been with a lot larger tractor. After the ring and pinion went for the third time we bought a D 19 Diesel. Many years later a D-14 has become part of our family. Itis for sale now that we realy don't have a lot for it to do. My phone # is 989-842-5279 We live in the middle of Michigan. Charles Clark

A lot of rust. I have the motor un-stuck and it runs good. The Air Cleaner is on the right side, it has a dry filter, it is rusted out and I am looking for one that is in good shape. Plans are to put the D15 back like new, as near as possible. I would appreciate any information.

It sat in the barn for 15 yrs never being moved. I bought it from him along with quite a few implements to go with it for a very small price. I "unstuck" the motor and did some minor repairs to get it in great running condition within a couple of weeks of purchasing it.. I still use it to this day about 7 yrs after buying it.. What a great tractor to own.. and the look on my grandfathers face the first time he heard it crank up after 15+ years is priceless!

Recently, a problem has developed in the torque shaft area. The tractor has been broken down and I'm in need of shaft assembly parts. It's a challenging project but, thanks to the help of an Allis addicted mechanic maybe we'll make it with a some luck. • I fondly remember the day we took delivery of this D-15. I must have been 12 at the time. This tractor was "little brother to our "bigger" D-17. Dad and I would often head to a field and "double up" on the field work. I always remember the D-15 being able to outrun the D-17. D-17 was pulling a 3/16 plow, the D-15 would go a bit faster pulling a 3/14 plow. It also would easily run away from the D-17 in hi or low road gear. The hand clutch made it such an easy tractor to manuever. Wish I still had that tractor!!!
