This picture shows a 1952 version of the John Deere MT. The MT is the tricycle narrow-front version of the John Deere Model M. The Model MTW was the MT with a wide-front. Production was from 1949 through 1952. |

One problem to be dealt with as I go is- When this tractor was close to being new, it fell on a loading ramp, and has play in the steering as a result of it.otherwise the only dents is some in the grill, but not much to worry about. The brakes or lack there of are my first challenge. I'm having to fabricate the lever brackets myself because they are not available. My next challenge is locating the nose and hood sheet metal. Any leads on those items from anyone.

Trail was altered so tractor just sits now. Would consider selling. Engine totally rebuilt with 50 hours since then. Richard wrote on Saturday, August 11, 2001 (PDT):Purchased my 1950 MT serial # 23783 two years ago. Immediately joined the Two-Cylinder Club where I found all the resources to restore this tractor. Its pictured in the Jan-Feb issue 2001 of this magazine. I have since located and bought the matching intigrated hitch 2-12 plow for the MT and have turned over miles of furrows since. The MT roams over my small acreage bush hogging, raking, plowing,and towing anything with a hitch.

We powered grain augers with it for years until the augers outgrew the tractor. It is now retired except for occasional short jobs and resides inside a bulding. I would like to know if anyone can give me years of production as well as the value of an MT that is in EXCELLENT mechanical shape and has not been restored, yet the original paint is in very good condition. Battery cover is still in place as well as the cover for the PTO.

Mike Owen wrote on Monday, December 20, 1999 (PST):I bought an old parts book dated 4/63 from an old JD dealer. the M decal set number is AM 3173T for the grille,and it says "Decalcomania kit (includes all above) (sub. for AM 503T,AM 1154T and AM1158T) M, MC, MT). the front page also has pics of all 4 models that can be used to determine location of the grill decals.

It was after me and my 3 brothers left home that he finally broke down and bought a tractor. That tractor could do the work of a dozen mules.
