  • My dad purchased a B F Avery in 1948 from Montgomery Ward at Chillicothe, Mo. The picture in this website looked like the one he bought (1 wheel in front). Someone mentioned about the hydralic system. There was a square part mounted on the frame on the right side of ours & someone at Montgomery Ward, I believe, said they were surplus from WW2 bombay door openers & closers on light bombers like the B25 or similar. I really don't know for sure. It was a pretty good tractor except the cultivator was all on the front and VERY heavy which made a lot of weight for just one tire in front. The corn planter attachment was real good tho. Thanks, Paul

I moved to Indiana in the late 60's and a few years ago became very interested in trying to find my Dad's old Avery. Luckily, I found it was bought by one of the neighbors in Tennessee, and still in fairly good condition, but short of TLC. The owner sold it to me and I have now repainted the tractor but still need help finding sources for parts, gaskets, etc. I have the original manual with all part #'s etc. Any and all suggestions as to where to find parts would be gratefully appreciated.

I delivered it to his farm in the Back River neck area of Baltimore County. In the summer of 1997 my son (Rick)and I went looking for the Avery tractor. Mr. Cost is now deceased, but we found out that a neighbor had the Avery tractor. We pruchased the tractor from him.It had been setting in the woods for about 10 years and in very poor condition. It took us two years to restore the Avery. There were many hours of mechanical repairs ,sandblasting and painting. We rebuilted the tractor complete. In 2001 we won first place in the Forth of July parade Kingvilles MD. and first place at the Mason and Dixon Fair Delta PA. If anyone needs inforatoin about Avery tractors, where to get parts or help with problems in restoring Email me I will try to help you. There is a B.F. It,s good to hear that someone else is interested in these tractors. I ahve said recently, that I would buy a new one if they were built today. W.D. Jenkins

  • I am restoring a BF Avery tractor which I recently purchased. It was in running condition but in need of much TLC. I have completely stripped the tractor of paint and parts and am slowly cleaning, repairing and reconstructing. I matched the paint by taking off a part which had hidden original paint and had a paint shop match the color. If you have any information about the Avery tractor e-mail me.

I do have th serial number (I think) if it would help. My email address is regular27 at yahoo.com. Please email me with any information that you might have, I would appreciate it.

  • My Dad bought a 1950 Model "A" Avery similar to the one pictured in 1950. I used the tractor as a young farmer growing up in Tennessee, and we sold it when my Dad died in 1982. I moved to Indiana in the late 60's and a few months ago, became very interested in trying to find my Dad's old Avery. Luckily, I found it was bought by one of the neighbors in Tennessee, and still in fairly good condition, but short of TLC. The owner sold it to me and I'm now in the process of restoring it and need help finding sources for parts, gaskets, etc. I have the original manual with all part #'s etc. Any and all suggestions as to where to find parts would be gratefully appreciated.

  • I have a complete B. F. Avery Model "A" except the rear tires and rims are after market. The tractor runs great. I am considering putting a wide front on it as it currently has a loader installed. If a collector is interested in buying it, I would sell it. It would be best to sell prior to the conversion, so it stays in the origional condition.

  • Here's a question for some Avery buff. The photo in the tractor shed obviously has battery ignition. I believe Avery took over the Cletrac General 'GG' line in the early 40's. It seems that the General had a different grille and maybe hood than the photo, somewhat similar but not as styled, am I right? Also, were the early Avery A's (ie. just after they took over the Generals) of the earlier (General) grille type? How easy were the magneto versions of the Avery to start? I am assuming that the early ones were magneto ignition like the Generals. Contact me at; mballash at wci.ab.ca Thanks, Mike.

It came with the farm when I moved here ten years ago, just have never got around to working with it. Also had a JD that I sold and a David Brown 990 that I use. I don't want to sell the Avery but would be interested in its value, parts available, etc.

  • Last year while cleaning at my brothers cabin on the Missippi river I discovered the steering wheel of a tractor sticking out of the ground. With the aid of my neighbors we were able to get it out, and at present we are taking it apart so that we can transport it back to the mainland. It has Avery tru-draft stamped on the rear end, but it has been retrofitted with a "Oliver/4 cylinder Continental engine. I researched the engine, and it appears that Continental did make engines for Oliver Corporation for a short period of time. This tractor also has two front wheels as opposed to one, and it is a wide fron end. I would appreciate it if you could assist me in trying to find out the model of this machine. it is our intention to restore it. We woul be happy to forward photos as soon as we get itoff the island. I would need an address to send the photos, and also would like a phone number that I might speak to someone who knows something about Avery tractors. My grandfather had an Avery years ago but that was before I was born. My uncle has always been a Oliver/White person, and we have found a motor shop that assures me that they can do the work. We do have thmodel and serial numbers, but I do not have them with me at this time.
